What is EVE Frontier?
EVE Frontier is a sandbox game based on the world of EVE ONLINE, developed by CCP Games in Iceland. Users adventure and develop in a desolate space environment. The in-game economy features a community-driven economic sandbox. Utilizing blockchain technology, it creates an open and transparent environment where players can create custom currencies, establish markets, and trade assets and services.
System Description
Users can utilize an environmental development system called Smart Assembly to build functionalities equipped with defense facilities, trading posts, storage facilities, and a programmable layer that links the virtual world of Frontier with the external real world.
You can develop your own ideas or cater to the needs of others. From mission systems to civilian economies, Smart Assembly allows for third-party development using a powerful toolkit to build beyond the virtual world.
The Solidity programming language is used for infrastructure programming, and blockchain technology utilizes RedStone and MUD based on OP Stacks, enabling exchange between various in-game currencies, real-world currencies, and more using ERC-20 tokens.
Items are player-owned, and all transactions between players are permitted. CCP Games does not prohibit trading inside or outside the game. In EVE Frontier, you can utilize various in-game currencies built on the ERC-20 token standard, as well as exchange them for real-world currency. This allows for the following:
- 1. The ability to trade currency outside of EVE Frontier and trade in-game value.
- 2. Reduction of secondary market incentives.
- 3. The ability for players to create, exchange, and use their own currencies (such as alliance-specific currencies) using the same utility.
- 4. Rewarding and supporting developers of programmed infrastructure (Smart Assembly) and its maintenance and operation (including maintenance of external development environments).

A Word from the Author
EVE Online, developed by CCP Games, employs an interesting system where the in-game economy is overseen by economics experts, and players manage market facilities and engage in all sorts of in-game activities to compete for them. This system has contributed to its large and active player base. They also have experience with blockchain tokenomics, as they allow real-money trading (RMT) of premium subscription items (not Pay to Win) that offer in-game advantages. Furthermore, CCP Games has a strong reputation for its technical prowess, including load balancing for a large number of users accessing a single server and providing APIs for external services.
EVE Frontier leverages this expertise to offer a wide range of gameplay options and flexibility. We are excited to see how the economic activities using ERC-20 tokens and in-game/real-world currencies facilitated by blockchain technology will evolve.
