MegaETH | The Ultra-Fast Ethereum L2 That Has Already Completed the MEGA Token TGE

Table of Contents

MegaETH is a next-generation Layer 2 blockchain built to solve Ethereum's scalability problem. It launched its public mainnet in February 2026 and issued the MEGA token on April 30 of the same year. This article covers where MegaETH stands today, the MEGA token, and how to take part.

Project Overview

Here is a summary of what kind of chain MegaETH is and what stage it is at right now.

MegaETH is an Ethereum L2 aiming for throughput above 100,000 TPS and latency under one millisecond. Its proprietary parallel execution and hardware acceleration are optimized for DeFi, high-frequency trading (HFT), gaming, and real-time data processing.

After the February 2026 mainnet launch, the Chainlink Scale integration opened up access to major DeFi protocols such as Aave, GMX, and Lido.

Where MegaETH's Strength Lies

What separates MegaETH from other Ethereum L2s is a design philosophy that pushes processing speed to the limits of the hardware.

  • Mainnet already live: The public mainnet launched on February 9, 2026. Stress testing reached 35,000 TPS and processed 10.7 billion transactions
  • Ultra-fast processing: A design targeting throughput above 100,000 TPS and transaction finality under one millisecond
  • Large funding rounds: More than $107.68 million raised in total, backed by Dragonfly Capital, Vitalik Buterin, and Joe Lubin
  • Chainlink Scale integration: Major DeFi protocols including Aave, GMX, Lido, and Lombard supported from day one

Funding Status

MegaETH has raised more than $107.68 million in total.

The MEGA Token Today

The MEGA token completed its TGE (Token Generation Event) on April 30, 2026. A milestone-triggered format was used: the token was issued seven days after the KPI was met on April 23, 2026.

Circulating supplyApprox. 1.1 billion (as of August 6, 2026)
Price$0.0353 (as of August 6, 2026)
All-time high$0.2177 (April 30, 2026)

It was bid up to $0.2177 on its first day of trading, then stepped down from there, and as of August 6, 2026 the price is $0.0353. That is 83.8% below the peak.

Of the 10 billion total supply, roughly 1.1 billion is in circulation, with the rest designed to unlock in stages according to the allocation schedule.

Price and supply figures were pulled from CoinGecko's public API on August 6, 2026. Markets move, so check the latest numbers before trading.

Airdrop and How to Participate

MegaETH has no conventional community airdrop that anyone can claim. Allocation is concentrated in The Fluffle NFT, KPI, Echo, and Sonar, and the team has explicitly denied that testnet participation earns an airdrop.

Terminal (points program)Ended May 21, 2026; folded into Rabbithole

Terminal, the points program, stopped accepting entries on May 21, 2026. It had originally been scheduled to run until June 23 of the same year, so it was pulled forward by a month. USDM is being used to settle points already earned, and multiple outlets report that Terminal's functions have been moved into Rabbithole.

If you want to take part in the ecosystem now, the flow looks like this.

  1. Go to the MegaETH official site and connect your wallet
  2. Bridge ETH to the MegaETH network using MegaETH Bridge
  3. Use DApps on mainnet (Cap, Kumbaya, Showdown, and others)

The Ecosystem Today

MegaETH's ecosystem strategy changed substantially in 2026. The developer accelerator "MegaMafia" came to a close on July 16, 2026, and the team turned from backing outside startups to owning consumer apps itself.

  • MegaMafia ended: The program that raised roughly 20 companies across two cohorts over two years has finished. We track where the participants went in Where the 20 MegaMafia Companies Stand Now
  • OMEGA: A suite of in-house apps that only work on MegaETH's execution environment. The investment focus from here
  • Chainlink Scale integration: Major DeFi protocols including Aave, GMX, Lido, and Lombard are supported
  • Rabbithole: The official portal. It displays the cumulative transaction count and throughput at all times

The throughput Rabbithole showed on August 6, 2026 was 25 transactions per second, and cumulative transactions had passed 11.8 billion. The headline figure of 100,000 TPS is a design target, so it needs to be read separately from the volume actually flowing through the chain today.

With the lead role in the ecosystem shifting from outside startups to in-house apps, which apps grow from here now depends heavily on MegaETH's own development decisions.

Summary

MegaETH passed three milestones in 2026: mainnet going live, the token launch, and a pivot in ecosystem strategy.

  • MEGA completed its TGE on April 30, 2026. It was issued through a milestone-triggered format, and has fallen from that day's high of $0.2177 to $0.0353 as of August 6, 2026
  • Mainnet has been live since February 9, 2026. It is an Ethereum L2 that reached 35,000 TPS and processed 10.7 billion transactions in stress testing
  • Ecosystem strategy has pivoted. The MegaMafia accelerator ended on July 16, 2026, moving to direct investment in the in-house app suite "OMEGA"
