What Is Perceptron Network | The PERC Airdrop and the Reality of Running the Extension

Install a browser extension and leave it running, and your own internet connection gets put to work collecting training data for AI companies, with points accruing in return.

That is the kind of node Perceptron Network is handing out. The project claims a node network spread across more than 150 countries, and on July 30, 2026 it closed a $6.5 million strategic round.

Joining is free, and getting as far as installing the extension and the Android app and clearing the quests takes only a few minutes.

It is a project whose declared business is to turn participants' browsers and smartphones into always-on nodes, gather data from the public web, and sell the refined datasets to AI companies.

The data quests the project puts at its core are not open yet. The official roadmap itself places V1 in Q3 2026.

This always-on node network was not built up from zero either. On June 20, 2025 the project announced a merger with BlockMesh Network and inherited that company's network of roughly 700,000 nodes.

Who Built It and Who Is Funding It

The public face is co-founder and CEO Peter Anthony. He spent years watching projects on "The House of Crypto," a YouTube channel with roughly 300,000 subscribers.

"The ones that really mattered were the projects solving a bottleneck that actually existed," he says, explaining that he chose data rather than the compute everyone was watching as his starting point.

There is no fee to join. What you get is in-house points centered on EXP, and as of August 4 there are five routes (limited-time collaboration quests also appear separately).

As of August 4 the top nine on the leaderboard sit in the 7,200-8,300 EXP band, an order of magnitude above the 600 EXP that comes from installing the extension and the app.

The exit that matters has not been decided. No formula for converting EXP into $PERC has been published, and we found no statement that EXP carries monetary value.

$PERC is not listed on CoinGecko, and no TGE date has been announced. The founder's explanation goes only as far as a sense that it is "in the near future, not far off."

Can You Join from Japan?

Neither the terms of service nor the privacy policy lists excluded countries or regions. We found no explicit statement anywhere official about whether residents of Japan may use it.

The only written requirement is being 16 or older, under §3 of the terms.

A node is, in substance, a mechanism that fetches URLs the server specifies over your own connection and hands them back. The destination, the HTTP method and the headers are assigned by the backend, and the participant does not get to choose them.

Uptime and bandwidth are reported at five-minute intervals. That interval appears in a configuration flag readable without authentication (extension_polling_interval = 300000 milliseconds).

Why gather up ordinary household connections? Because repeatedly fetching from large sites via data-center IPs runs into rate limits and blocks.

Scatter residential connections across 150 countries and the same collection goes through.

The combination itself, an extension that accrues points for lending bandwidth, invite-code bonuses, social quests and a leaderboard, is standard equipment in this category. Bandwidth-sharing projects like Grass and data-contribution projects like Silencio implemented it first.

Where the Claimed 800,000 Nodes Come From

The official homepage says "800,000+ nodes," and the July 30 press release claims "807,000+ nodes, DAU 300,000+." The hub puts up numbers of the same scale under a "LIVE" heading.

Yet the hub's configuration JSON has numbers of this scale written into it directly, as fixed values. Total nodes are 710,000-807,000 (initial value 735,000) and Daily Active is 95,000-108,000 (initial value 100,000).

Opening the same screen twice on the same day moved total nodes from 809,966 to 807,000, and Daily Active from 115,040 to 108,000. The first reading exceeded the top of that range, and the second matched the ceiling exactly.

What is displayed is not a measurement but configured values animated for show.

There are other numbers you can count from outside. The Chrome Web Store showed 60,000 users, and Google Play showed 10,000+ downloads.

A "node count" that includes cumulative registrations is not the same thing as the installs in place right now. Even so, the gap is more than an order of magnitude.

Counts via CLI or Docker are not disclosed, and nothing from the project fills in the difference.

Terms with the Governing Law and the Contact Left Blank

§13 of the terms of service (published July 14, 2026) leaves the governing law, the seat of arbitration and the arbitration body all unfilled. The original text is still sitting there as a template that reads "[insert jurisdiction, e.g., Delaware, USA...]".

§6 of the privacy policy, the contact point for exercising your rights, is likewise still "[insert contact email]". The document invokes GDPR and CCPA compliance while leaving the address for those requests blank.

It means that which country's law applies, and where you would file, in a dispute has not been decided yet.

How Your Connection and Personal Data Are Handled

The extension declares three permissions, alarms, storage and background, and its communication is limited to the project's own domains (the declaration for script injection into all URLs remains, but the injected payload is empty). Even so, the access to the instructed URLs goes out from your own connection and IP address.

What the privacy policy lists as collected is your email address, your linked X account, your wallet address, logs including IP, and data from the public web. There is no clause that touches on bandwidth sharing or use as a proxy.

It states that personal data is not sold to third parties, while listing exceptions: disclosure to processors, legal demands, business transfers and the sharing of aggregated data.

Distributed build v0.0.602 also still contains an implementation that reads posts on X (libs/twitter-scraping-helper). Within a static inspection we could not confirm a live path to it, and we cannot tell whether it is a leftover from the BlockMesh era either, because only one public repository exists across the two organizations.

1. On the Chrome Web Store, confirm the publisher is perceptrons.xyz and install the extension (Chrome 110 or later)
2. Register with the extension by email. This is where the always-on node starts, and uptime and bandwidth get reported every five minutes
3. Decide up front whether to run it in your everyday browser or separate it into another profile or device
4. On Android, register Perceptron Network Node with the same email (350 EXP)

Perceptron Network's edge lies in the number of nodes running, but what can be verified from outside is only the portion countable on the public app stores.

Joining itself is free. Where the judgment splits is how you value the time spent accruing points with no conversion formula, after entrusting your connection and personal data to a counterparty whose governing law and contact point are both still blank.
